I have an MBA and a CPA but started out as an engineer at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. It wasn’t long before I knew my real passion was real estate and operations. Since then I’ve spent the past 20+ years honing those skills while helping several businesses and teams succeed from the management and finance role. It hasn’t always been a smooth ride, but as we all know, those experiences provide valuable insight.
My primary focus is once again back in the real estate space. I have the honor of leading an awesome team here at REM. After 20 years of being involved in real estate in various capacities, this is an exciting opportunity to use that experience to carefully guide our investors and partners through a challenging buyers market and most likely an eventual correction in the market. There are always opportunities for those who are prepared!
Being a vertically integrated firm that manages the process from end-to-end really gives us a competitive advantage while lowering our risk. I’m thankful for the experiences I had growing up in the construction business alongside my dad who had a custom home building business in DFW – and then adding the operational and finance experience in my professional career. Those experiences have provided a great base to build on as we focus on long-term cash flow while improving the lives of our residents along the way. It’s a win-win.
I’m also thankful that I can give back a little at this point in my career and am grateful for those who mentored me along the way. To that end I speak around the country, helping fellow business owners and real estate entrepreneurs learn/grow their business, manage risk, minimize their taxes, and achieve their goals. We all need a mentor.
